Story

“Na Maloom Afraad 2” picks up a few years after the events of its predecessor, with Farhan (Fahad Mustafa) and Shakeel bhai (Jawed Sheikh) facing even greater financial struggles after losing their multinational business. Alongside Naina (Urwa Hocane), now married to Farhan, they reside in dire circumstances at a construction site, barely making ends meet. Their old friend Moon (Mohsin Abbas Haider) reenters their lives when he announces his impending wedding in South Africa.

The plot thickens when a wealthy Sheikh (Nayyar Ejaz) arrives in Cape Town, accompanied by his prized gold commode. Meanwhile, a pair of criminals, Iqbal and Thaakrey (Saleem Mairaj and Nazr ul Hassan), scheme to steal the commode and extort the Sheikh. However, a mix-up during a wedding leads the commode to end up in Moon’s home, where the trio is staying. They devise a plan to dispose of it, but complications arise when Farhan and Shakeel decide to keep the commode for themselves.

As they transport the commode, they unwittingly attract the attention of a local criminal gang, who align themselves with Iqbal and Thaakrey. Shakeel discovers hidden gems within the commode, which they conceal in a jewelry set. Chaos ensues when the gang raids Moon’s house, leading to their demise at the hands of the police. The commode is return to the Sheikh, but Iqbal and Thaakrey take refuge in the trio’s home, anticipating their return.

To protect themselves, the trio seeks refuge elsewhere, leaving the criminals to target Parri and Naina. A series of events lead to a standoff between the police and the criminals, resulting in a cliffhanger where the safe containing the gems is thrown into the ocean. Eventually, the girls are rescued, but Sheikh is apprehended, and Shakeel loses his hearing during the chaos. Moon ultimately marries Parri, and during the wedding, a revelation about the missing gems brings joy and resolution to the trio.

Production

“After the success of ‘NMA’, producer Fizza Ali Meerza express interest in creating a sequel, although no specific timeline has been set,” stated Meerza in an interview with The Express Tribune nine months post the release of ‘NMA’. “We’re considering whether it will be a direct sequel or more of a spiritual successor, featuring a different narrative,” she elaborated.

During the trailer launch of the film on 21 June 2017, Meerza emphasized that ‘NMA2’ would be distinct from its predecessor, presenting a fresh storyline while retaining familiar characters. “Despite its ties to the original, ‘NMA2’ can stand on its own as a separate entity,” she added.

This project marks the third collaboration between the director-producer duo, following ‘Na Maloom Afraad’ (2014) and ‘Actor in Law’ (2016).
